MONIKA COULD LOSE HER FRIEND IF BETH FOLLOWS THROUGH…
…with her threat to resign for not getting a raise. Beth thinks Monika’s perfect, successful life was handed to her (the only thing Monika has to complain about is a lousy commute). Beth wants what Monika has and does not accept budget constraints as a reason to back down.
Meanwhile, across town at a women’s shelter called Shepherd’s Gate, Derrick, a social worker, fights to keep his own young protégé, a little girl with big dreams, from being influenced by an unwelcome visitor.
What is the connection between Monika’s company and the shelter? Is Beth right about Monika’s privileges? What can Monika do to convince her friend and protégé not to make a catastrophic mistake?
The answers lie at Shepherd’s Gate.
REAL OR FICTION?
This film is narrative fiction inspired by a true story. It is not a documentary, re-enactment, or dramatization of actual events. However, the Shepherd’s Gate women’s shelter depicted in the film is an accurate portrayal of the real-life organization of the same name in Livermore, California. Furthermore, the character of Monika is based on an actual person.
